My attempt to add 1 inch to my chest
Recently I came across an interesting post by a guy claiming that you can add 1 inch to your chest in a week. Naturally I am skeptical that this will work but how can I not give this a try. Especially since it only requires 1 week worth of effort. It is a crazy pushup routine with lots of sets and reps. I am in the middle of day 3 right now I will report back at the end to let you know if it works.
I love doing these kind of fitness and health challenges because it breaks the normal routine and forces me to try to improve myself. They are usually fun and can be pretty tough. I was able to lose several pounds and felt great while doing the paleo challenge. It was tough for me to complete so I felt a sense of accomplishment when I finished.
I will measure success in two ways:
1) Will this increase my strength as measured by the bench press?
2) Does the size of my chest increase?
My starting point:
39 inch chest
255 lbs bench 2 reps
If I can increase either of those in one week then I will consider this a successful experiment, even if my chest only goes up to 39.5 inches. I would love to pump up my bench to 4 reps of 255 lbs. I think that this routine would absolutely work for someone who has done little to no weight lifting before starting this but I have my doubts that it will work for a person who has been lifting consistently for the past 3 and a half years.
Who knows it might work after all, on day one my max number of pushups was 65 and today it was 82. I imagine that this will definitely help my lifting endurance so at the very least I should be able to get 3 or 4 reps at 255. Wish me luck!
