Paleo Chili

November 1, 2012

I found this paleo chili recipe a few months ago and really love it. I made a few alterations to it.

paleo chili ingredients

Ingredients for making paleo chili.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 lb grass fed ground beef
  2. 8 slices of bacon
  3. Red pepper, green pepper, yellow pepper, and orange pepper
  4. 16 oz tomato sause
  5. 16 oz fire roasted tomatoes
  6. 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  7. 1 tablespoon onion powder
  8. 1 tablespoon chili powder
  9. 1 tablespoon paprika
  10. 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  11. 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  12. 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  13. 3 tablespoon seasonall salt
  14. 1 tablespoon pepper
  15. 3 medium sized sweet potato

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400, clean sweet potatoes and poke holes in them. Microwave sweet potatoes for 5 minutes then finish them in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Cook bacon in large pot on medium high until crispy while cooking ground beef in a pan. When bacon is crispy remove from pot and chop into small pieces. Add ground beef to large pot and continue cooking. Add bacon pieces to the pot.
  3. Add all the seasoning to the ground beef.
  4. Pour in tomato sauce and fire roasted tomatoes.
  5. Chop up peppers into small pieces and add to pot.
  6. Remove the skin from the sweet potatoes and dice into small cubes then add to pot.
  7. Continue to cook chili for an additional fifteen minutes on medium high with all ingredients and stir occasionally.

This recipe makes enough chili for 4 to 5 people. I have also tried it with 2 pounds of ground beef instead of one and I didn’t think it was as good.

Step 5: Cut up bell peppers, I further chop up peppers into pieces one third this size.

Is there a slow cooker/crock pot method?

  3. This was good. I did it in the slow cooker without pre cooking the sweet potatoes – took maybe 3-4 hours on high or so? I also added some extra veggies that I had lying around. Husband LOVED it….making it again already for another camping weekend outing.

  4. Paleolithic diet was dairy free animals had not been domesticated.
names but the most well known is the Raw Food Diet. If you rinse uncooked chicken sanitize sink and kitchen surfaces after rinsing.
